In response to global ESG supply chain trends, UHT Unitech Company invested NT$500 million to build a thermoplastic carbon fiber composite material production factory in Caotun Town, Nantou County, Taiwan. Covering approximately 8,760 square meters, the entire factory is designed for dedicated production of thermoplastic carbon fiber composites. The products will be applied in aerospace, new energy vehicles, and high-speed rail industries. The company has already gained support from major European and American aerospace manufacturers, aggressively pursuing post-pandemic aerospace recovery opportunities.
Chairman James Wu stated that the company is currently one of the few in Taiwan capable of producing advanced aerospace-grade thermoplastic carbon fiber composites. Unlike traditional non-recyclable thermoset carbon fiber composites, our thermoplastic composites not only possess the lightweight and strong characteristics of carbon fiber but are also recyclable, making us environmentally friendly. Our company has secured cooperation intentions from Europe's Solvay Group and a major American thermoplastic resin manufacturer. We expect to obtain AS 9100D aerospace quality system certification next year. With global borders reopening post-pandemic, the aerospace industry's long-term outlook is positive, coupled with the rapidly growing demand for new energy vehicles.
Doyle Marc, Vice President of Global Aerospace and Defense Industries at Solvay Group, a world leader in thermoplastic resin technology, recently led a delegation to visit UHT's new Factory in Caotun. They discussed collaborative development of related products. As aerospace development trends towards lightweight materials, UHT is fully committed to seizing post-pandemic aerospace recovery opportunities. Benefiting from the global ESG wave accelerating the rapid rise of the new energy vehicle industry, a major American thermoplastic resin manufacturer also plans to collaborate with UHT on recyclable thermoplastic carbon fiber composite projects for new energy vehicles.
